Adam Wadewitz, an exceptional talent in Australian winemaking, assumed the role of Senior Winemaker at Shaw + Smith in 2013. With a remarkable track record, including being named Dux of the renowned Len Evans Tutorial and serving as a respected wine show judge, Adam's expertise shines through in every bottle he crafts. In 2022, his outstanding contributions to the industry were recognized as he was crowned Winemaker of the Year (WOTY) by The Wine Magazine—an accolade that solidifies his status as a visionary in the field.
Since their acquisition of the vineyard in 2012, Shaw + Smith Winery has made significant investments to elevate its potential. Recognizing the potential of a single-site wine, they crafted their inaugural "Lenswood Vineyard" Chardonnay in 2014 from a carefully selected portion of the vineyard. The 2020 vintage was highly appreciated by renowned wine critics. It showcases remarkable fruit intensity, with vibrant floral, lemon curd, and mineral notes. Its layered texture is harmonized by elevated acidity, resulting in an elegant, finely structured Chardonnay that beautifully reflects both the vintage conditions and the distinctive character of this remarkable vineyard site.
