This old vineyard is dominated by a square tower built by the English during the 100 Years War. This property of which 1985 was the first vintage, belongs to Nicolas Thienpont and is regarded as one of the best value of the appellation.

Nicolas Thienpont is a winemaker and vineyard manager in Bordeaux, France. Nicolas, ably assisted by his winemaking son, Cyrille, who is also managing L’If for his uncle Jacques, is today also overseeing the wine at Chateau Berliquet, Chateau Beauséjour Duffau-Lagarrosse and Chateau Larcis Ducasse which, after ten years of Nicolas’ management, was promoted, like Chateau Pavie Macquin, to Premier Grand Cru Classé in the 2012 Saint Emilion classification.
